Despite the efforts of the emergency responders, who were immediately on the scene, the worker died.

Regina Police Service and Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating, and federal occupational health and safety workers will be conducting an investigation, Bogusz said in the statement.

The worker’s next of kin are still being notified, and regular contact and support is being provided to those involved, he said.

Runway construction was halted over the weekend and expected to resume on Monday. Flights will continue as scheduled.
