Schneider made a mound visit to starting pitcher Alek Manoah to talk strategy in the sixth inning against the Baltimore Orioles, who had runners at first and second with two outs.

Unfortunately for the Jays manager, it was the second visit of the inning by the team after pitching coach Pete Walker’s earlier chat with Manoah.
At the end of the second visit, home plate umpire Dan Iassogna walked up to the mound and reminded Schneider that he had to make a pitching change.
That forced Schneider, who wanted to keep Manoah in the game, to replace him with a reliever with the game tied 2-2.
The error by Schneider didn’t come back to haunt him as pitcher Tim Mayza came into the game and was able to induce an out to deep right centre field.
